The Textile Industry occupies a unique place in our country from the production of raw materials to the delivery of finished products which plays a major role in Country’s economy. The Department of Textile Engineering was established in August, 2006 with the start of this college. It offers a 4-year B.Tech Textile Engineering course with an intake of 40 students. This course was started first time keeping in mind the scope of Wool, Silk, Himachal traditional wear like shawls, topi etc. in the state and to enrich state in Textile sector. Department has distinguished faculty specialized in different area of Textile with vast industrial experience. The state government has created various teaching post of Professor, Asstt. Professors and Lecturers which will be filled up in phase manner. The department has all Textile Engg labs required to teach undergraduate students. The labs at permanent site are being established. However, the common labs-Physics, Chemistry and Mechanical and Electronic Engg are being shared temporarily with Govt Polytechnic Sundernagar.
