ADMISSION PROCEDURE: The candidate desirous to seek admission in Engineering / Technology courses in JN Govt. Engineering College for the session 2009-2010 should have passed AIEEE-2009 conducted by CBSE New Delhi. The candidates may submit their application to the Director Technical Education Himachal Pradesh on the prescribed form which will be available in the Prospectus-cum-Information Brochure for the session 2009-10 made available by the Directorate of Technical Education Himachal Pradesh Sundernagar. A notice is published every year in the leading newspapers for inviting applications for admission and regarding availability of the above said Prospectus-cum-Information Brochure.

The selection of candidates shall be made purely on the merit of marks / rank obtained by the candidates in AIEEE-2009 through central counseling which is conducted by the competent authority i.e. Director Technical Education Himachal Pradesh Sundernagar

The State Government reserves all rights to make any changes in the eligibility criteria, number of available seats, Colleges, reservation of seats to a particular category , fee. & other and charges and conditions of admission in accordance with its policy, directions of the Hon’ble Courts, guidelines & regulations of the AICTE and also the H.P. University without prior notice.


Eligibility for admission to B.E. / B.Tech. Degree Courses:

1. The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination or its equivalent from a recognized Board / University with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with any one of these optional subjects : (a) Chemistry (b) Biology (c) Computer Science (d) Biotechnology.

2. For admission to B.E. / B. Tech. Degree Courses the Candidate must have passed / appeared in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE-2008) conducted by the CBSE New Delhi and admission will be made strictly on the merit of marks / rank obtained in AIEEE-2009.

RESERVATION: The following vertical reservation percentage criteria will be followed in the roster for nomination of candidates
i. General - 55%
ii. Scheduled Castes - 22%
iii. Scheduled Tribe - 05%
iv. Other Backward Classes - 18%

Horizontal Reservation Category wise will be as given below:
Sub reserved Categories

i. Defence / wards of Ex-servicemen - 15 %
ii. Freedom Fighters - 02%
iii. Physically Handicapped - 03%
iv. IRDP / Orphans - 15 %
v. Sports - 02%
vi Backward Area - 04%

KASHMIRI MIGRANTS: One seat in JN Govt. Engineering College, Sundernagar is reserved for Kashmiri Migrant candidates with in the sanctioned intake ( If approval in this regard is received from Govt. of India / AICTE ). Domicile requirement shall be waived off.

ADMISSION UNDER LATERAL ENTRY SCHEME:
1. Procedure :- Diploma Holders in Engg. / Technology (Bonafied Himachli Only ) from Polytechnics are admitted on the basis of merit in the same course directly in second year ( Third Semester ). The candidates shall be admitted on merit of marks obtained in their diploma. Other rules regarding reservation and selection of candidates will be given in the relevant Prospectus-cum-Information Brochure. 10% seats over and above the sanctioned intake are reserved for Lateral Entry Scheme candidates.
2. Eligibility :- The candidates who have passed three year diploma in Engineering / Technology with minimum 60 % marks shall be eligible for admission under lateral entry.
NOTE :- THE ADMISSION PROCEDURE CAN BE CHANGED AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION .

Scholarships :

Poverty-cum-IRDP scholarship @ Rs.300/p.m. is being given to all eligible students. For SC./ST categories 100% scholarships are being given @ Rs.500/- p.m. and some of scholarships @ Rs.300/-p.m. are given to general category students on basis of merit . All these scholarships are given to the Bonafide Himachali students by the Govt. of H.P. under Technical Education Scholarship Rules.
